‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ Starring Mohanlal will probably end up as an OTT Release

As the crew considers several alternatives, director Priyadarshan's magnum opus Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham may be released on an OTT platform. Antony Perumbavoor, the film's producer, said he was running out of patience and couldn't wait any more. On Monday, he spoke to the media on the sidelines of the 67th National Awards ceremony.

"I'm not sure how much longer I can wait." I'm debating whether to release it in theatres or on demand. "There are greater pictures waiting to be done than Marakkar," Antony informed the press.

The Mohanlal-starrer has been postponed for two years in the hopes of a theatrical release. "When we made this movie, we wanted it to be seen in theatres." We were also anticipating that. "We're currently reviewing all options before making a decision," he said, according to the Indian Express. "Releasing Marakkar in theatres with other films, with 50% occupancy, and hoping to make money is not easy," Antony stated on Monday, as theatres across Kerala opened with 50% occupancy.

"We've spoken with Amazon Prime. If the decision is made to take the OTT route, there will be no theatrical release, according to Onmanorama.

Best Feature Film, Best Special Effects, and Best Costume Design were among the three National Awards won by Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham. The film, which is claimed to have cost Rs 100 crore, is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV, the naval leader of the Zamorin of Calicut.

Sunil Shetty, Arjun Sarja, Prabhudheva, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Pranav Mohanlal, and Kalyani Priyadarshan are among the film's star-studded cast.
