Kavya as school teacher; signs another movie

Kavya Madhavan will play the role of a school teacher in her upcoming movie directed by newbie Suneesh Babu. She plays a diligent teacher who is saddened with the dwindling number of students in the government school where she teaches. Finally there is just one student left. In spite of this she continues with dedication. She comes on times, takes classes, rings the bell at appropriate times and looks after the well-being of her pupil. But this student also leaves. The school faces a closure threat. Kavya’s role in the movie is the most prominent and with maximum screen time.
Kavya will be focusing more on quality rather than quantity from now on. She signed this movie because of its contemporary and social relevance. The actress will also be doing another movie, the details of which are yet to be made known. She is planning to take up a maximum of only 2 or 3 movies a year from now on.

ONAM MOVIES

The mood of celebration and the school holidays make Onam one of the hottest seasons for Malayalam cinema.
Top stars make it a point to come out with their best offerings.  This year, four big releases will add to the Onasadya, besides last week’s release, Peruchazhi, starring Mohanlal.
Mammootty plays the hero in Ajai Vasudev’s Rajadhi Raja, and the hit pair of Kunchacko Boban and Biju Menon team up in Johny Antony’s Bhaiyya Bhaiyya.
Sudheesh Sankar banks on Dileep’s comic timing in Villaali Veeran. Prithviraj plays one of the seven thieves in Anil Radhakrishnan Menon’s Saptamasree Taskaraha.
Rajadhi Raja
Director: Ajai Vasudev
Cast: Mammootty, Lakshmi Rai
Newcomer Ajai Vasudev directs Rajadhi Raja, a colourful entertainer. It is scripted by the hit pair of Siby K Thomas and Udayakrishna.
Mammootty plays the manager of a petrol pump and restaurant. Lakshmi Rai plays his wife. Trouble starts when her relative comes to visit them.
After a poor response to some of his films, Mammootty has had reason to cheer with the decent response to his last two releases, Manglish and Munnariyippu.
Rajadhi Raja will be the acid test for him.
Dileep in Villaali Veeran
Villaali Veeran
Director: Sudheesh Sankar
Cast: Dileep, Namita Pramod
Dileep has been the darling of the box office after the number of hits he has produced in recent years.
In Sudheesh Sankar’s Villaali Veeran, he plays a vegetable vendor, who decides to marry the daughter of a rich man in order to get himself and his family out of a financial mess.
The director says that the film is not just another comedy but comes with a message as well.
Kunchacko Boban, Biju Menon in Bhaiyya Bhaiyya
Bhaiyya Bhaiyya
Director: Johny Antony
Cast: Kunchacko Boban, Biju Menon
After blockbusters such as Ordinary and Romans, Kunchacko Boban and Biju Menon have become the most successful pair in Malayalam cinema.
They come together again in Johny Antony’s Bhaiyya Bhaiiya, a laugh riot.
Kunchacko plays Babu and Biju plays a Bengali gent. Kajal Aggarwal’s sister Nisha Aggarwal is the heroine.
Prithviraj and Reenu Mathews in Saptamasree Taskaraha
Saptamasree Taskaraha
Director: Anil Radhakrishnan Menon
Cast: Prithviraj, Reenu Mathews
Anil Radhakrishnan Menon made an impressive debut with North 24 Kaatham last year.
In his latest film, Saptamasree Taskaraha, Prithviraj and Asif Ali are part of a gang of seven gentlemen thieves, who team up in jail and come out with a mission.
Reenu Mathews is the heroine. The director says Saptamasree Taskaraha is a ‘simple thriller’.

Rajadhi Raja is a lacklustre Onam release, writes Paresh C Palicha.
What are the ingredients of a typical masala film with a mega star in the lead? Obviously such a film is made to cash in on the star's fan base, so, the star is made to do things that are believed to be liked by his fans.
Mammootty's latest film Rajadhi Raja tries to do this at the very basic level.

The film directed by debutante Ajai Vasudev and written by the hit team of Udayakrishna and Sibi K Thomas present the star as a family man to begin with and then turn him into a super hero doing stylised fight scenes taking on dozens of fighters in a go, by the half time.
Shekharan Kutty (Mammootty) runs a roadside eatery in a petrol pump somewhere on the Kerala Tamil Nadu border. He has a sweet wife, Radha (Lakshmi Rai) and a school going daughter. He is meek by nature and does not get involved in fights or fracas of any kind, whatever be the provocation.
His ideal lifestyle is disturbed when his wife's cousin Swami  Ayyappan (Jojo) lands up to stay with him. He is a typical funny man with a criminal background who as opposed to Shekharan Kutty, gets involved in anything going on around the petrol pump.
The story takes a predictable twist after a while when a bunch of bad guys come to the place.
At first, we are made to believe that it may be a case of mistaken identity but soon we realise that Shekharan's past is catching up with him. As the whim of brains behind this film go, he was once a dreaded underworld don Raja in Mumbai and an accused in serial blasts that had rocked the metro city. As per police records, Raja was killed in an encounter.
This film's tagline is 'the king is back' and we should take it in the literal sense that this star is back to please his fans after a few box office duds. And, his fans do clap and whistle once a while seeing the gimmicks of their favourite actor, but, for the viewer who ventures into the theatre without allegiance to the star as such, it is tedious to keep focus on the proceedings on the screen without yawning!
It seems to be the season of superstars sporting a beard; last week it was Mohanlal with a trimmed beard in Peruchazhi and this week, it is the turn of Mammootty to sport a stubble along with shoulder length hair and Ray Ban glasses (so much for being stylish!). Anyway, the role as such does not demand much else from him.
As for other novelty in this film, there are a few actors from Mumbai who have passed their prime like Mukesh Khanna (of Shaktimaan fame, who is made to dance on a Hindi song) and Raza Murad.
Jojo is the only person who somewhat maintains his charm in the presence of Mammootty. Nobody else get such a chance, be it Siddique or Joy Mathew.
Rajadhi Raja proves to be a lacklustre Onam release
